TRENTON, N.J. – Police say a 19-year-old who tried to rob a liquor store sat down and cried after 76-year-old owner locked him in the store. The man was accused of trying to rob Sykes Liquor Store in Trenton Monday night. Police said the owner, who was behind the counter, triggered the lock after the man grabbed a bottle of Hennessy cognac and bolted for the door.

The man then allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded to be released. But the owner said he saw that the gun was a fake, refused to unlock the door and called police.

Police said the suspect threw away the gun, slumped to the floor and was crying when officers arrived to arrest him.

A Vallejo teen gave birth Friday after she allegedly burglarized a North Vallejo home.

At about 10:30 a.m., a patrolling officer noticed a blue Mercedes parked on Borges Lane and recognized it as a vehicle associated with reported burglaries in the Vallejo area, police said.

As the officer pulled up alongside the vehicle, he saw a pregnant Shanae Harston, 19, of Vallejo exit a home on the 100 block of Agnes Court. There was also a 16-year-old female inside the car, police said.

The officer recovered stolen property from Harston, who then began having contractions and had to be taken to the hospital, where she gave birth, police said.

The 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and booked into juvenile hall, but Harston was released pending prosecution due to her condition, police said.

Officers are continuing to investigate whether the teenagers had anything to do with other burglaries in the area, police said.

According to The Journal, a 19-year-old Pennsylvania man was arraigned earlier this week on a charge of felony daytime robbery. How did police catch him? Simple: the burglar left a trail, by way of checking his Facebook account before leaving the house with two diamond rings and forgetting to log out.

Jonathan Parker remains in custody on $10,000 bail, facing a maximum 10 year prison sentence if convicted. A friend of the defendant said Parker had asked him for help breaking into the victim’s house the previous night, so things are not looking too good for the perp.

What do you think: is this a case of Facebook addiction, or just a very dim burglar? If robbery weren’t such a serious matter we might consider this story pretty much hilarious. As Homer Simpson would say, “doh!”
