A Vallejo teen gave birth Friday after she allegedly burglarized a North Vallejo home.
At about 10:30 a.m., a patrolling officer noticed a blue Mercedes parked on Borges Lane and recognized it as a vehicle associated with reported burglaries in the Vallejo area, police said.
As the officer pulled up alongside the vehicle, he saw a pregnant Shanae Harston, 19, of Vallejo exit a home on the 100 block of Agnes Court. There was also a 16-year-old female inside the car, police said.
The officer recovered stolen property from Harston, who then began having contractions and had to be taken to the hospital, where she gave birth, police said.
The 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and booked into juvenile hall, but Harston was released pending prosecution due to her condition, police said.
Officers are continuing to investigate whether the teenagers had anything to do with other burglaries in the area, police said.

A Hernando deputy discovered the 49-year-old on Sunday during a security check of the building. He faces a commercial burglary charge.
Gunman Prays With Clerk, Then Finishes Robbery
Police said a gunman spent nearly 10 minutes on his knees praying with the clerk at an Indianapolis check cashing business before fleeing with her cell phone and $20 from the register. Security video from the Advance America branch clearly showed the man’s face during Monday’s stickup, and a 23-year-old man surrendered Tuesday on a preliminary charge of robbery.
The robbery took an unusual turn after the gunman came around the counter as the clerk told police she began crying and then talked about God. The man said he had a 2-year-old child to support and asked for prayers about overcoming his hardships.
Sgt. Kevin Wethington said the clerk’s actions “certainly didn’t hurt” prevent more troubles in the store on the city’s east side near Washington Square Mall.
